Your Wise Guide in Choosing a Bed for Your Dog

Is it hard to resist the warm and huggable sensation you feel from your pet dog’s touch? This may be true that is why you sometimes overlook some alarming possibilities regarding you, sharing your own bed with your pet. Likelihoods are: dog might carry traces of mud, dirt, fleas or ticks. And not to forget, they are not always clean and responsible with wastes. They also undergo different sleep patterns. But since you love cuddling them so much, you oftentimes don’t realize the importance of providing him his very own refuge of comfort. You might have been convinced that as soon as possible, it should be shopping day for the best bed that will secure and calm your dog to give him a restful sleep. But before rushing to the nearest pet store, better consider these important pointers to guide you in choosing a dog bed.

1. Will the bed size fit your doggie? If he is a large size breed, of course it is fitting to provide a size enough to lodge his big stature. Make sure to ask the animal expert how big and heavy your pet will grow so you can estimate the pet bed he needs. Something that is too little can make a dog cramp while overly large ones could let a Chihuahua feel abandoned and unprotected.

2. Can you train your new pet? The same with children, dogs have to have guidance and training of what, how, when and where of proper sleeping routine. Establish a certain sleeping spot and time which you want him to be familiar with. Never allow him to drag its bed wherever he wants or he will not learn his lesson.

3. Are the materials durable? While a foam mattress is suitable for large-built pets, smaller pieces of fillings provide more flexibility, and fit to little dogs and puppies. Make sure that the covers are removable and washable. Cleanse it at least weekly to kill fleas or ticks. 4. Can you keep away from accidents? Let everyone in the family know where the bed is located so that no one would trip it off accidentally. Better if you secure it into a cranny or nook because your dog would surely love to sleep in quiet and peaceful surroundings.
