pros and cons of Christmas shopping online

I recently discovered the world of online shopping. I could not find a product I wanted in Canada so I went online and low and behold there it was. So I ordered it and it arrived a few days later by the post lady. Since it was electronics I thought there was no more to pay. Well if she wasn’t blonde and pretty I would have argued about the taxes I had to pay. Dumb me the taxes were our sales tax and goods and services tax. Oh well, I paid and got my product and I’m happy.

So then I told some friends about my shopping spree and they stated , oh my you have to give out your credit information and personal information. So I tried to explain encryption to one of my friends and stated it was secure unless a good hacker wanted my pennies. He gave me a funny look and I said you don’t know what i’m talking about, and its the same as if I asked you about installing a carburetor. He said whats a carburetor.

Well we laughed and as the conversations continued he started having interest as to what I was saying. I’m not a computer guru so we got down to shopping which he loves to do.

I explained the ins and outs of the process and he said well it sounds great. After explaining that it is great as when its snows you don’t have to leave your house , not even to pick it up. It comes to your door. Well he was thrilled at the idea.

We both agreed on the thought of online shopping, but what about those decorations in the store, the music, those little dolls that kids press and make them sing. We might miss them. As well as all the people we might meet as we pushed and shoved our way through the aisles on our way to the check out.

Well that struck a note of fear in our eyes and both again agreed, lets shop online and wait for the after Christmas sales to arrive when we can shop at leisure for that particular item we forgot, and then go and sit down at home and have a favorite beverage and go back to the computer to enjoy those decorations that the websites forgot to change.

I guess online or in person shopping has its advantages and disadvantages. I prefer my computer chair.

Black Friday Shopping – The Beginning of the Holiday Shopping Season

What exactly is Black Friday?

Black Friday is the busiest retail shopping day of the year and kicks of the retail Christmas shopping season. Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. Since Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, Black Friday may be as early as the 23rd and as late as the 29th of November.
Black Friday is not an official holiday, but many people take the day off so they can take advantage of the great shopping deals offered by retail stores. This is the reason why most, if not all, retailers decorate for the Christmas season weeks beforehand.
Many retailers open very early, often 5 a.m. or even earlier, and offer doorbuster deals to draw people to their stores.
The term “Black Friday” is used to refer to the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black or turn a profit.
In most major cities across the United States it is not uncommon to see shoppers start lining up hours before stores even open. Once inside, the shoppers often rush and grab items, as many stores have only a few of the big draw items. Electronics and the seasons popular toys are often the most sought-after items. Because of the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, many choose to stay home and avoid the hectic shopping experience. Many retailers are now offering some great deals by shopping online. The local media often will cover the event, mentioning how early the shoppers began lining up at various stores and providing video of the shoppers standing in line and later leaving with their purchased items.
The history of the day after Thanksgiving being the official start of the holiday shopping season is linked together strongly with the idea of Hoiday parades. Today they are merged with a parade celebrating Thanksgiving. These parades, though mainly a celebration of thanksgiving, include an appearance by Santa at the end with the idea that Santa is just around the corner.
Today, some websites offer information about Black Friday specials up to a month in advance. These are usually either leaked by insiders or intentionally released by large retailers to give consumers insight and allow them time to plan.

Do Your Kids Halt Your Black Friday Shopping?

Once a year stores all around the country run specials that are simply too good to pass up. The day after Thanksgiving, which has become known as Black Friday, is considered the busiest shopping day of the year. Unfortunately, it can be difficult for parents to take advantage of while worrying about the kids. If your kids have halted your Black Friday shopping, you are not alone.

Because of this, parents have been forced to pay much more well after the sells have passed. That is, until, online Black Friday shopping came into existence. This gives parents all over the ability to pick up on the numerous specials that are run without having to wake up the kids early or worry about leaving them at home.

There are several advantages to shopping online for Black Friday if you have kids. The number one advantage is you do not have to drag them around from store to store. There is nothing worse than having to deal with the kids while you are Christmas shopping; especially if they know it is not for them.

Not only is it a pain for them, but it is a pain for you and anyone else that is in the store. It can become embarrassing and annoying to hear your kids whine from store to store. But if you are at home, you can shop while your kids sleep in their rooms.

Another benefit to Black Friday Shopping at home is you can purchase gifts for your kids without them seeing. It can be difficult to buy presents for your kids while they are at the store with you. You end up having to sneak gifts and somehow get them home without anyone seeing them. When shopping at home, you can get all of the gifts your kids want while still allowing it to be a secret.

Lastly, most kids spend hours upon hours writing out an extensive list for parents to follow along with. Anymore, most kids will type their list on the computer and send it via e-mail. What can be difficult is when kids place a link to a web site for you to see the product. But if you shop online, you can look in your e-mail at their wish list and follow the link to the product they want.

It can be a pain shopping with your kids in stores; especially on Black Friday trying to catch all of the early bird specials. However, Black Friday shopping has made it far easier for parents to still take advantage of all of the specials without having to drag around their kids.
